Two Mothers Necklace

106.00

A large antique amulet from India, picturing two goddesses, or Matrikas, strung on cotton in shades of pink. The amulet is framed on either side by old handmade silver beads from Africa.

The ‘Matrikas’ ~ Sanskrit for mother or divine mother ~ are a group of mother goddesses who are always depicted together in Hinduism. On this very unusual amulet, it looks as if two of the goddesses have intentionally been featured alone and centered on the amulet to symbolize something for the wearer.

The simple act of wearing an amulet close to your body is a form of worship to the particular goddess or deities depicted.

Because this necklace is long, it looks beautiful layered with shorter necklaces.

Approximate size of amulet is 1.5" x 2”

Loop is approximately 25" and slips over the head.

Will arrive packaged in a hand dyed muslin pouch.
