Glass Goddess Necklace

72.00

Made with a glass teardrop pendant which was salvaged from a vintage chandelier and a small vintage silver amulet from India picturing the Hindu Goddess Durga on her lion/tiger.

Durga is one of the most worshipped goddesses throughout India and the rest of the Far East. The name means the invincible. Durga is often depicted riding a lion or tiger, which symbolizes unlimited power. She uses it to protect virtue and destroy evil. The lion is emblematic of uncontrolled animalistic tendencies (anger, arrogance, selfishness, greed, jealousy). Durga sitting on this majestic & powerful animal reminds us to control these qualities, so that we are not controlled by them.

Strung on hand braided cotton taping in a deep blue.

Subtle, irregular, quiet and layered – with a hint of luster from the beautiful clear vintage glass.

Loop is approximately 17.75" with white bronze clasp.

Glass teardrop pendant is approximately 2" x 1.25"

Silver Durga amulet is approximately .5" in diameter.

Mix with other textile necklaces from my collection here: JEWELRY

Will arrive packaged in a hand dyed muslin pouch.
