Carnelian Stone Tuareg Necklace

128.00

An old handmade silver and Carnelian Tisek ring from the Tuareg Tribe of Northern Africa hangs on a thin leather cord. Simply strung with ten handmade silver beads.

The Tuareg are a nomadic tribe and are the principal inhabitants of the Saharan interior of North Africa. Rings like these with Carnelian stones have been found in the Sahara desert as far back as 6000 BC and have been used as necklaces, hair pendants, rings, and other personal adornments - worn by men and women. Tuareg believe that Carnelian helps cure sicknesses of the blood and it also serves as symbol of wealth.

The ring is approximately 2" x 1"

Loop is approximately 28" – slips over head. Leather cord is knotted at the back of the neck.

Beautiful worn alone or layered with other necklaces from my collection.

Will arrive packaged in a hand dyed muslin pouch.
